Four months later...

I received this...

Four month waiting list for a $35 canvas tote, UNHEARD OF. A cheeky one none the less, printed on all 4 sides with an image of a well-known crazy expensive bag that has a waiting list of at least a year.

I'd give you the link, but there is another waiting list. Ok fine, if you have other bags and want to wait and not juggle your things on the subway everyday like I did for the past four months here you go:

I kid, I OBV have, like, a MILLION bags. I really do like it though and it was worth the wait. I'm sure i'll use it, like, totes everyday.

Have a wonderful long weekend y'all. I'll be in NYC sweating my a$$ off. Oh in case you were wondering, eh not so much a summer person, but I do love the fall and that means were only one season away.

Konfused.

I am so confused by this...

KOMBUCHA

It makes some pretty hefty claims:

So the reason why I am confused is, HOW DO PPL DRINK/ENJOY THIS??

It literally tasted like liquid garbage to me. I forced down about 4 gulps but I could not take anymore. I understand it is fermented and I should have expected the UNIQUE flavor, but really. How do people drink this all the time and willingly and say they like it.

I am also trying not to be judgmental so if you drink Kombucha regularly, please tell me:

Does it get better? Did I pick the wrong flavor? Do you honestly feel better after consuming?

Also, you might find this confusing...

I took this photo with my blackberry. For real. It came out really nice. Photos on my phone are really hit or miss, or the lighting has to be PERFECTION.

The peonies are nice too!

Bringers of Joy.

Things that brought me joy this weekend:

Ottoman! So happy to have finally received the final piece of our living room furniture. We bought this at the end of February along with our new couch, but it had been back ordered FOREVER.

Our living room is starting to look a bit more like this:

After looking at this collage I made, I really am kind of wishing I had painted the end table my original gray and white stripe idea. Even though I do LOVE the orange, I think the stripes are lighter would probably match the rug better. Maybe I will re-paint that bad boy as my next home project.

The ottoman is sooo comfy though pushed up against the couch. JOY.

Joy Bringer #2:

Successful Avocado Fries!!

My last post will recount my major avocado fry fail. However, I did it right this time. I sliced up the 'cados, flour coated (garbanzo bean), egg wash, Ian's Whole Wheat Panko Crumbs. 20 Min in 375 degrees, flipping half way. Ta da!

I think the bean flour and the whole wheat panko crumbs slightly over powered the avocado taste, but they were delish none the less. Mark enjoyed them, so, recipe approved.

We saw Bridemaids last night as I really liked it. It actually wasn't as over the top as I thought it was going to be and the commercials on TV showed most of the funny parts, but I enjoyed it and found many of the characters to be really relatable. It was a good for a good laugh on a lazy sunday.

Lastly, Sunday afternoon Mark and I did the P90X Yoga dvd together and Billy joined for a bit (but was also going nutso for some catnip we bought him). I had not done yoga in awhile and it felt ah-mazing. Mark suggested we do Yoga every Sunday together and this also brought me a lot of joy.

Eggs on Pizza

I mentioned last week that I was going to cook for Mark and attempt Smitten Kitchen 's breakfast pizza recipe.

Let's just do a side by side comparison:

Photography aside, tinfoil backdrop aside, broken yolk aside, non-homemade hockey puck strength crust aside....I'd say, a valiant effort was made!

I was going to replace the bacon with crispy shrimp, but remembered I had bacon in the freezer and that seemed more economical.

The process:
Pre-cooked Organic Pizza Dough: Sounds good in theory

Pre-Oven

I know I am the messiest cook. Honestly, the amount of counter space I am working with though...

Post-Oven

What I learned:

Spray tinfoil with cooking spray prior to placing hockey-puck strength pre-cooked organic whole wheat pizza crust on it.

Because it will stick if you don't.

And you and your boyfriend will have to rip pieces from tinfoil with bare hands.

Also, invest in circular cooking pan.

Winnah

I have an addiction to entering contests.

When HGTV was giving away their Urban Oasis Dream Home 2010, a luxury condo in the W hotel in downtown Manhattan, I entered twice a day everyday for myself and another 2 entries per day for Mark.

Wanna know who won?

This kid...

A college student from Florida who only entered ONE time on the first day because his mom told him to. Obviously.

ANYWAYS, I saw on some fashion blog last week that David Yurman was doing a Mother's Day giveaway, all you had to do was 'like' them on Facebook and you were entered to win a pearl and diamond ring. Easy contest, the best kind. I 'liked' them and I forgot about it.

Fast forward, one week, I am procrastinating on Facebook and see a post from David Yurman in my news feed that says:

A big congratulations to Mari Theodossiou- you are our Mother's Day prize winner! Thank you for celebrating Mother's Day with David Yurman and we hope you enjoy your DY piece!

I had not received an e-mail from them or anything so I am thinking: ME?! REALLY ME?!

Long story short I got the e-mail a couple hours later confirming it and I really did win! I won something! Pretty cool...and yes, I did offer the ring to my mom as a Mother's Day present but she told me to keep it.

Flower Spanx.

WOWZA. I am really bad at updating this. Days went by and I knew I should update it but then life was all crazy and I felt uninspired. It happens.

Ok so my parents (hi mom) came to visit a couple of weeks ago which meant one thing: I had to clean my apartment. Which was great because if they had not come to visit I probably would not have cleaned it....umm or gotten to see my parents! :)

In the attempt to make it just EXTRA special I bought some tulips from the corner store, and the very nice flower man gave me a free second bouquet! Ok, well he also said "I was going to throw these away..."

Thanks. I love garbage tulips.

Yes I got photoshoppy on my crappy blackberry pic.

And then environmental karma kicked my a$$ when i realized that in the move I had tossed all of the vases that ever came with a bouquet of flowers that Mark gave me. Thoughts at the time:

a) These are just cheap vases
b) They are heavy
c) My arms hurt
d) eh, I never buy fresh flowers anyways.

I tried to fit these in a pretty glass I had, but tulip stems are pretty much the equivalent of noodles and they kept drooping over the sides. I asked myself, what would the brilliant florist in me do??

WELL... I would take the leaves I plucked off and tuck them around the rim of the glass, working essentially as flower spanx!

Even noodley tulip stems need a little spanx to hold them into place.
